Robert Mason is an Associate Professor at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and a Non-Resident Fellow with the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington. Previously, he was Senior Non-Resident Fellow with the Gulf Research Center and Director of the Middle East Studies Center at the American University in Cairo where he was co-chair of the Regional Security and Conflict Working Group. He has held visiting fellowships at the University of Oxford, London School of Economics, and United Nations University. Robert has research expertise in the politics, international relations and foreign policies of the Middle East, with an emphasis on the Gulf states. He has also conducted work for the Hudson Insitute on CBRN policies and capabilities of Libya (pre-2011) and the UK.
