Patriot Games: misinformation, exaggeration and military exercises – This essay discusses the Russian military exercise, Zapad 2017, within the wider context of deteriorating West-Russia relations and NATO's own programme of military exercises. It concludes that a new mindset is required on both sides, but points  to a particular responsibility on the West/NATO to break out from stereotyping Russia as an aggressive and non-conformist actor in international relations.
